An SAS trooper received minor injuries and an Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier was killed during a battle with anti-coalition militia forces in late September. That attack was believed to have occurred when a patrol of about a dozen troops was operating from a coalition special forces base at Gardez, southeast of Kabul and close to the Pakistan border.
