    Pertussis warning continues  Jun 13, 2008
    Immunization against Pertussis is given in the DTaP vaccination children receive as babies against diphtheria, tetanus and Pertussis and the last dose comes just after their fourth birthday. An earlier story reported the last dose should be given before age 4. (Park Hills Daily Journal, MO)

    Prior to the new requirement, Pospisil said, "students would have received a 'booster' with tetanus and diphtheria, which has been recommended every 10 years - most sixth-graders would have originally received their first diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis vaccine in infancy - so the pertussis bundled in with the other two is an opportunity for them to get immunity for all of them at the same time."
