Understanding TSH Receptor Antibodi... Sep 19, 2005
In both Graves disease (GD) and the hypothyroid disorder Hashimotos thyroiditis (HT), TSH receptor antibodies cause thyroid dysfunction and perpetuate the disease process ... More than 90 percent of Graves patients have TSI and many patients also have TGI. A small subset of patients only produce TGI. In cases of suspect GD that cant be confirmed with TSI testing, the TGI test is used ... But this test isn't helpful for monitoring the progress of GD or determining remission. (Suite101.com)
