    Disease-carrying mosquitoes turn up in Twin Cities  Jul 13, 2009
    The Japanese rock pool mosquito can carry the West Nile virus and LaCrosse encephalitis. It was recently discovered in Burnsville, Cottage Grove, Eagan, Eureka Township, Lake Elmo, Lakeville and Savage. (Wahpeton Daily News, ND)

    Less money to battle mosquitos, but more species seen  Jun 2, 2009
    Lon Van Deusen, Rapid City Parks Division manager, said a new species of mosquito capable of carrying West Nile virus and LaCrosse encephalitis virus that can infect humans was found within the state. The Japanese rock pool mosqito has been identified in South Dakota, he said. (Rapid City Journal, SD)

    Report: Minn. has new disease-carrying mosquito  Jun 2, 2009
    It's the Japanese rock pool mosquito, which the state Health Department says on Monday can transmit the LaCrosse encephalitis virus and West Nile virus to humans. The mosquito was accidentally imported into the United States several years ago and has been spreading ever since. (Brainerd Daily Dispatch)
